Christian Stohr Sr., who was naturalized at Jefferson County Court of Common Pleas on 5 Sep 1836, is presumed to be the immigrant ancestor of the Stohr Family.
In his 'Declaration of Intent' filed in Jefferson Co, New York on 2 September 1833, Christian states that he was 39 years old, a farmer, and was born at Tullingen, Kingdom of Wirtemberg {sic}. He further states that he "emigrated to the County of Jefferson in September 1831, where he has since resided".
As of 3 January 2016, we have been unable to locate any exit documents, passenger lists, or arrival documents for this Christian Stohr arriving on or about September 1831.
Information on Known Family Members: In the 1855 New York Census, Angeline Stohr Menges states she was born in Wurtenburg {sic} and had resided in New York City for 23 years. Rosina Stohr Lincks states she was born in Germany and had resided in New York City for 26 years. Christian Stohr and John Stohr were living in Brooklyn and stated the time they had lived in Brooklyn.
